Kukur Tihar

A festival to celebrate animals for being such amazing souls. We started celebrating kukur Tihar in 2019 and since our extended family enjoy this special occasion so much we decided to celebrate it every year.

We started celebrating "Kukur Tihar" every year since 2019. Tihar is the 5 day celebration of Diwali in Nepal and on the 2nd day, people in the country worship dogs! (What a place!) In Nepal, Dogs are considered to be messengers of Yamraj and their pooja is done to appease the god. Well for us, any reason to celebrate the lives of our furry friends is reason enough. We put tikka on them, garlanded them and thanked them for being such amazing souls. Not to be left alone, cats and even our rescued horses, cows, goats and donkeys were part of the celebrations!

Celebrate a safe Diwali, don't burst crackers and instead eat lots of sweets!
