Hands That Heal currently has 20 dedicated large Rooms for Dogs and 1 Medical Room for critically injured/sick dogs. The adolescent puppies have different area and room. We also have a separate room for the mother and her puppies. Paraplegic dogs have been given a separate enclosed area. There is also a separate room given to old dogs. They are not locked in cages and have a large space to roam, run and get ample exercise.
Similarly our Catio also has 3 dedicated room for rescued injured/sick Cats and kittens and 10 dedicated sheds for rescued/injured Cows, Horses, Donkeys, Goats, Rabbits, Birds and Ducks. We have also built a small pond for ducks to swim every morning.
SPECIALLY ABLED DOGS/CATS
We take in only those animals that are truly in need of help. We do not believe and encourage rehabilitation of healthy animals. There are number of pets that are abandoned by their owners on the streets, some are even dumped at the gates of our shelter.
We receive many lactating mothers and motherless puppies at Hands That Heal Animal Care Foundation. The number one reason for this is not sterilising the community dogs of the area. We try to educate people and get them connected with the nearby sterilisation centre. This helps reduce the number of cruelty cases and solves the human and animal conflict.
We receive kittens, pregnant cats, injured cats - whom we tend to. Medical treatment is given to the sick and injured ones to help them recover faster. Most of our cats roam outside as HTH does not believe in keeping animals in cages. Once they are healthy, we sterilise the cats and let them roam around our vicinity.
Rabbits have their dedicated shed. With many people buying pet rabbits, they are some of the most neglected and thrown away pets. Many people have also sent over Cows and goats that were on their way to slaughterhouses. We get admissions of injured cows/buffalos almost daily from the nearby villages who we tend to.
The ducks at Hands That Heal love swimming and bathing in their pond every morning. All the birds that come to Hands That Heal are rescued either because of injury or cruelty. Once healed we release the wild birds back to the wild. Birds like Pigeons, Pelicans, Ducks, Parrots, Kites, Eagles, Love birds have all been a part of our family.
